More window stories! Yes. DFLA has officially become a blog about windows.
This weekend in Palm Springs it will once again become a blog devoted to sketchbookery & tomfoolery.
Hold onto your shorts until then.
4 days in and the final cleanup is happening. The 3-man crew has been exceptionally good natured & polite. One of them whistles while he works. True story.
If you're in Highland Park and need windows from an established business with a good reputation I could not recommend Tom's Glass highly enough. It's owned (since 1979) and operated by 2 brothers Rudy & Kenny. That's Kenny on the right. That's not Rudy on the left.
Old leaking patio door was also replaced.
When I arrived home the crew was meticulously cleaning every window, latch, and frame. I was impressed at their diligence.
I'm so charmed by the awning windows. The security they provide was an added draw.
Don't get me wrong I still have my trusty hammer and baseball bat in the bedroom for emergencies and I'm not afraid to use them, but these windows are about 550% more difficult to break into.
The snowy white treatment the walls are getting in the next month will be the crowning touch. These poor walls are smiling just thinking of it.
No I will NOT be doing the job myself. No time for that! I've got books to read, cats to pet, and pictures to paint in my sketchbooks. Also. Layzeeeee.
Here is the last remaining original window in Moss Cottage. It's looking forward to its makeover.
The crew will make one final pass-through in a week after everything has settled. Just to make sure everything is working properly. I do appreciate conscientious workers.
Kenny has a soft spot for bachelor cats living on the streets. He has a couple that rent out rooms at his shop. I've always found affinity to cats to be a good barometer of outstanding customer service.
Over and out pilgrims! Soon I'll be sending you dispatches from Palm Springs.
Talk amongst yourselves till then.
