REMAINS OF THE DAY updates and information:

I've decided to keep your access to the videos and class blog OPEN.  Originally if you registered prior to June 2010 your access ended this coming December.  No more!  I'm postponing the cut off date indefinitely.  This class has been like standing under one giant shining lucky star.  Enrollment has been consistent since the class began last December.  I never imagined it would grow so large.  Or that I would form bonds with so many of the people in the class.  Or that so many nice people would show off their journals and spread the word this far and wide.

THANK YOU.  I am grateful.

Kas, one of the generous ROD class members emailed me the other day to say she wanted to sponser someone in need.  In other words PAY their full tuition.  That really happened.  I'm going to contribute another 2 classes for someone else.  So 3 free spots in the class.  Send me an email with a brief description of your circumstances.  Special consideration given to the unemployed, recently laid off, or stay-at-home moms with no extra dough for yourself. When the spots are filled I'll update this post with the info.  Naturally, your name will be kept private.

I'll spin the wheel one last time next Tuesday.  Kind of difficult to believe that Christmas will have come and gone by then isn't it?

 

Registration will be open until December 31st.  The FOR SALE sign will be taken down from January 1 - 15th.  I'll put it back up again once I return from my trip down south to Merida, Mexico.   If you're in the class never fear!  I'm carrying all of you with me in my suitcase, or pocket.  One or the other.  And as for the rest of you, you can come too if you want!  I'll be blogging & adventuring & travel journaling from my place in the sun.

By the way, you'll want to have a look at what some of the hardcore gangster crafters  have been up to in class.  Only a week out and  already a few have started revving their sewing machine motors, rolling up their t-shirt sleeves, and putting their pedals to the metal.  I've only had to break up a couple of fights so far.  Go HERE to check out the talent. Online Class Sneak Peek!

Giveaway!

A blustery cool Sunday up here at the little cottage on the hill.  I just got in my order of punchanella  from The Paper Studio.  Oh is it gorgeous!  10 super long strips with 5 different sizes of holes to stencil through.  I'm set for life in the sequin waste department.

Class sample anyone?  One idea zip zings off the last.  That means more is being added to the already full Stencilry outline.  Who knew preparing for class could be this much fun?   Writing everything down helps to focus my galloping mind.

Add-ons

I ran across more stencil portraits, some old color copy journal pages, and other odd and assorted flotsam and jetsam.  I know you won't mind if I pack those into your pony express bundle.  Do you?
The comments are warming the cockles of my heart.  They made me want to dig deeper and find more.  So I did.  And...if the random number generator device thingy stops on YOUR number, whether you live in Botswana or Paris the package will find you.

See this box?  It belongs to one of my boys.  He collects things off the floor and makes stuff.  Like miniature teddy bears out of foil and carpet lint, fake teeth from scrap paper, wigs, pop-up bats, wallets from construction paper and tape.  We started this box for him.  He calls it his Workshop.  I love that.  When he finishes his work he goes to his special spot and takes the box off the shelf and starts cutting and folding and pasting.  

Sunday

Here it is.  A big plastic pouch filled with collage provisions.  Mostly a variety of ledger pages, damask patterns of vintage wallpaper and other decorative damask paper (think irregularly cut big scraps not orderly measured pieces), a couple of pages from a 1930's scrapbook, and various other vintage paper scraps I happen to toss in between now and the time I mail it off to a mailbox near YOU.

I finally got fed up with my giant plastic box where I keep my collage provisions.  I dumped it over on my journal table and threw away about half of the contents.  I was not throwing my head back laughing maniacally while I did it either.  No siree.  I started by plucking out pieces of paper that I can't abandon, after an hour I just stopped looking and THREW.  The box closes and I have room for another year's worth of scraps.  I can't wait to sit down with my newly cleaned work space.  A few stencil portaits may have landed in the giveaway pouches.  No one loves getting rid of things and/or using up paper scraps more than me.  And I mean no one.

The body is home, but the mind continues to roam the woods and shore of the Mendocino Coast.  Photos of that delicious trip coming soon, but for now I have 4 packages ready to go out in Monday's mail!

After spending the day driving north singing my head off,  sunroof open, intermittent NPR breaks to hear election coverage, I arrived in time for a spectacular sunset.  My motel was perfectly located right on the headlands with lovely views,  walking trails, and miles of OCEAN in Fort Bragg (correctly guessed by several savvy California travelers!)  Winter rates allow me to stay in places I couldn't afford in the summer.  I threw my bag on the bed and dashed out across the bluffs in time to see this:

sigh.

Dark forested roads lead to this remote stretch of coastline.  Scene after scene of crushing beauty.

It's hard to take it all in, but I did my level best.
