Chrysanthumums

I just discovered LiveQuartz. It's image editing freeware for Macs that you can download HERE I downloaded it a couple of days ago and stayed up until the wee hours fiddling around with it. Now I can actually add text to images and use PNG files! Holy Crap Muchachos, I can even resize images right down to the pixel. This means that instead of guessing at how to resize my banner to fit up at the top there I can actually get it to fit. Who knew?

I first saw these polaroid frames over HERE at Roben-Marie's blog. Son of a gun! Are they cool or what? I still can't use digital brushes, but who needs brushes when you can stock up on cool digital frames at digital scrapbooking sites? Huh? Who? No one that's who.

I don't like the writing on some of the frames, but in my zeal I wanted to use all of my new tools at once.

This morning I bounded out of bed and headed over to the Farmer's Market. I can't take one more strawberry that's white in the middle. Plus I had a serious hankering for peaches. The real kind that are sugary sweet and taste like summer. I also picked up these radiantly beautiful chyrsanthemums and plopped them in this Italian pottery vase I found sitting on my neighbor's trash can last year. People throw away the darndest things dontcha think? Who needs thrift stores when you have neighbors like mine?

Look at these jewel-like radishes. So lovely.

Wanna know the best thing about these flowers? The delightful man that sold them to me said, "Si muñeca," when I showed him the ones I wanted. Maybe I'm hearing things again, but I thought muñeca meant Doll. I looked it up in my 9000 page dictionary when I got home and it says doll, dummy, manequin, polishing bag. I mean I'm not a dummy and he wouldn't have called me a polishing bag would he? Will have to consult Mama Moss on this one.

It's a bright warm day in Los Angeles. That means in between tending to my trees, making a red spraypaint run, and starting my brand spanking new book from the good old Los Angeles Public Library (The Double Bind), I'll be working in my visual journal. Here's a couple of pages from this week.

but... where DID you find those frames? I want polaroid frames like those too! :-)

Muneca (using the meaning of "doll") can also refer to an attractive girl with a nice shape. It is meant as a compliment. This information is from a friend who is from Jalisco.

¡Pozo hecho!!! I was so excited to see the frames on your blog! They look great and I am happy that you have found a fun mac program that will help with photo manipulation. Now, I really thought it weird that we both just checked The Double Bind out of the library. We must be "hermanas del alma." Forgive my horrible spanish. I am trying to teach myself!

I also love the green velvet! But I really love the frames, I want those...

So where did you get the cool poloroid frames? Love them!

I received your yummy package of vintage wallpaper this last week and have been having a blast. Yes, muneca (sorry the comment portion doesn't allow me to add a tilda)does mean doll, but some use it as a term of endearment. I have noticed in older folks, muneca is used like, "dear," or "honey," especially when speaking to a younger person. Also, a person, who has very blue or light eyes is called a muneca/o in various parts of Mexico, Centeral and South America. The way I have heard it used has always been in a positive way and as a compliment in this context. If you find out how the man's intended usage, please let me know. I love how language can shift in different enclaves and such.

It's 10:23 in NC and I just stumbled upstairs in a drunken stupor and was about to shut my computer down for the day but decided to see if you had posted...so glad I did! Have a wonderful Sunday!

love, love the green crushed velvet bit there at the end. as always a completely inspiring post.
um, we're supposed to water the trees? better get right on that.

When I first came here today the new header had me ..you know..trippin'....then I come back after a day in the kitchen of making fresh salsa...and I see the new header in COLOR..and I am ...you know...trippin'...thinkin' was it color before or NOT? Then I read about the new image editing program...aaaaaHA!
I totally dig it...'specially the weathered polaroid frames...freakin' McBlogO'Coolness! And WOW, strawberries that are red inside...what a concept...who woulda thunk it ;-)
Again, thou hast inspired.....

The best. Your blog is THE BEST. Thank you for the goody-goodness.
