A Band Of Chattering Monkeys
Holy cow. I got home sweaty and spent after a day of moving into a new classroom that is approximately 1.3 miles from my current classroom, as a crow flies. As a band of chattering monkeys flies though, it is longer. Way longer. Willie accidently pushed Lorenzo, who tripped over Sabas' tail...uh I mean knee, who rolled over Cintia's foot, and smashed her toes perfectly encased in her yellow sequined sandals. Then 2 of the monkeys got tired and sat down in the middle of the school yard and started playing with the class set of money, which then began to fly like hundreds of tiny green kites through the air. One monkey cried and said that another monkey made fun of his shorts and then all the monkeys starting talking at once and tapping me and making grunting noises. And I had to call an emergency huddle out on the vast asphalt jungle and remind the newly deputized moving crew about the importance of being kind and helpful and very very quiet and cooperative. I may have raised my voice, I do not recall. I may have bribed the monkeys with candy, I do not recall that either. I may have violated child labor laws, I'm pretty sure of that. But in the end, when all the air conditioner was on high and the tired little monkeys clambered onto the carpet in the classroom library with their stuffed animals to hear a scary story with the lights out, no one was thinking about any of that. Who doesn't love a good scary story in the middle of the summer?
Nancy sent me this package tied with an orange string. It's so fun to open things. Isn't her portrait sassy? I enjoyed the entire experience of slowly pulling open the string and looking at what awaited me inside. I wasn't disappointed! Lately she's been painting these quirky cool portraits. Go to her blog and see what's shakin'. Her visual journal pages are a feast for sore eyes.
MICHELLE, my gas mask supplier, sent me this delicous bundle of sprayed & doodled black, blue, and brown. Lots of peekholes and intricate details for me to explore.
I've been concentrating on my journal lately and haven't made any batches of mailart cookies this week. The dough's in the freezer though and will come out soon. It's only a matter of time. Hey! Have you seen THISsuper cool collection of women in paintings? Don't take my word for it. Click on over to U-tube and check it out yourself.

Your posts are all fab-o as usual...and lucky you to get mail art from Ms. W!!! And Nancy's stuff? the colors are to die!
